An encounter with the origins of our culture
The ruins of Empúries
56 km from the hotel
For lovers of history and archaeology, the visit to the d'Empúries ruins is practically obligatory. The current headquarters of the Catalonia Archaeology Museum, these ruins, located in the fishing town of l'Escala, were the gateway of Greek and Roman cultures to the Iberian Peninsula. They contain the only archaeological site in which the remains of a Greek city – the colonial enclave of Emporion – coexist with the vestiges of a Roman city, originally from the beginning of the 1st century BC. Let yourself be captivated wandering through the ruins and by its incomparable museum.
